- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Criminal history clearance.
- Three years’ successful experience in custodial/maintenance or related work.
- Ability to write technical reports, bid specifications, and other technical documents.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to building and facilities management industries.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
SALARY:
$64,642 - $72,800
12 month position/260 days, subject to change.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position's primary duties involve the assignment and direct supervision of custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, laboratories, furnishings, and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Supervisor is also responsible for training employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents and chemicals. The supervisor will be expected to complete maintenance duties, as part of this position. The School District Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors within the district. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including school administrators, to promote a proactive safety culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs, trains, and supervises custodial staff to ensure daily cleaning, maintenance, and sanitation tasks are completed effectively.
- Develops and trains cleaning protocols for each building.
- Sets priorities for cleaning all sites in the District and helps maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Oversees the cleaning and upkeep of all district facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, cafeterias, and grounds.
- Orders materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Participates in budget development and monitors/approves expenditures.
- Assigns and adjusts work schedules to meet the district's needs, including special events, emergencies, and inclement weather.
- Reports regularly to district administration on progress and status of work and facility needs.
- Assists in recruiting, screening, hiring, and placement of assigned staff.
- Assigns, orients, supervises and evaluates assigned staff.
- Makes provision for training and development activities pertaining to the responsibilities of assigned staff.
- Ensures custodial staff follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Stays updated on school district, state, and federal regulations related to sanitation, waste disposal, and facility maintenance.
- Assists in coordinating response to emergencies, such as water leaks, power outages, and snow removal.
- Conducts regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
- Performs maintenance work as assigned.
- Updates safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conducts regular safety audits and risk assessments of school facilities to identify potential hazards.
- Develops and implements emergency response plans, including drills for fire, lockdown, evacuation, and other emergencies.
- Provides training for staff, students, and parents on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices for maintaining a safe school environment.
- Oversees the reporting and investigation of safety incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up and corrective actions are taken.
- Analyzes safety data and trends to inform decision-making and improve safety practices across the district.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for safety-related concerns, ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders regarding safety issues and initiatives.
- Assists in the development and management of the safety budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources for safety programs and initiatives.
- Oversees the management, maintenance, and operation of two-way radios and other communication devices used for emergency response.
- Supervises the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of security cameras, fire alarms, and other safety-related systems to ensure proper functioning and compliance with regulations.
- Exhibits a strong knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response protocols.
- Interprets and implements all legal requirements, board policies, administrative regulations, and negotiated agreements.
- Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information related to district financial, collective bargaining, and legal matters.
- Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff.
- Provides direction to others and makes independent judgments.
- Operates computer and software programs as related to job responsibilities.
